Reporting to the Manager of Student Wellness & Accessibility, the Psychiatric Nurse’s primary function is to identify and respond to medical and mental health emergencies, provide medical and mental health counselling, information, and support and community referrals for students. This will include development and delivery of student health education programs, monitoring of immunizations, providing emergency/ routine care, community referrals and, N95 Mask Fit Testing.  This role will promote and assist students with restoring and maintaining health and well-being and will have an active role in the Workplace Health Safety and Wellness Committee.




  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing is required. A nursing diploma with a specialized certification in psychiatric nursing with a considerable amount of experience may be considered.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a community setting or public mental health nursing setting is required.
  • Recent experience responding to medical emergencies is required.
  • Ability to provide assist students with mental health related concerns
  • Ability to provide education to students and staff regarding health- related topics
  • Experience reviewing immunization records would be an asset
  • Experience conducting N95 mask fit testing would be an asset
  • Experience establishing/maintaining a network of contacts and community resources
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both verbal and written formats
  • Must be independent, organized, and detail oriented
  • Communicates with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and courtesy

SALARY: $59,380 - 77,106 per annum; Commensurate with education and experience. Immediate enrollment in Benefits and the Public Service Pension Plan. This position offers generous vacation entitlement with structured day-time hours.
