INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT- Data Analytics & Communication FACULTY OF BUSINESS, ENVIRONMENT, AND TECHNOLOGY (FBET)   NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our technology team, working specifically on our new upskilling program for Autistic individuals.   ABOUT THE PROGRAM:   The Upskilling for Data Analytics and Business Intelligence non-credit program is based on the former, award-winningAutism CanTechprogram.  Our focus is on giving Autistic individuals the skills necessary to successfully enter the growing data industry.   Upskilling Data and Business Analysis is a 16-week, hands on program that includes both in-person learning and on-the-job work integrated learning. Participants acquire employment skills and develop workplace self-advocacy tools to ensure clear communication with their employer focused on equity, productivity, and accommodation. Participants will be supported in gradually entering the workforce through a work integrated learning experience.   The Instructional Assistant contributes to the success of the Upskilling program by supporting both the technical and communications instructors in the classroom.  The Instructional Assistant will answer student questions and assist students with hands-on work during the class.  This can be navigating the materials or troubleshooting when students get stuck or behind. This role will include building a strong repertoire with the students and program team. Student support can include assisting with accommodations and supporting development of employability skills. These skills will prepare Autistic participants to make meaningful contributions to data teams in a variety of organizations. Our program’s purpose is to provide participants with the skills and tools to gain and maintain meaningful employment after program completion. This role consists of approximately 20 hours a week and requires in-person delivery of courses at our downtown campus Monday-Friday. The program runs from May 2024 – July 2024 with the possibility of extension. Manager Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion Centre Faculty of Research and Academic Innovation   At the Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion Centre (WAIC), we provide customized consulting and contract services to employers across Canada seeking to hire, retain, and support neurodiverse employees and employees with disabilities.   Reporting to the Director of the Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership, the Manager will provide entrepreneurial expertise and experience in organizational leadership related to pan-disability accessibility and inclusion in the workplace. The role oversees the Centre’s strategic plan, brand, quality, reputation & relationships, growth, research, revenue generation and management of the Workplace Accessibility & Inclusion Center (WAIC).     HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE - Work with an Accessibility Consultant to develop training curriculum for clients. - Create strategic plans, annual business plans and revenue forecasting in collaboration with the CILL Director, Dean and Vice Dean. - Create the WAIC brand and promote recognition and impact for the WAIC. - Directly provide strategic leadership support and delivery of consulting, professional development, and contract service activities to clients, community, and contracted experts. - Provide academic leadership in the applied research, disability community engagement, and educational development. - Recruit, manage, coach and assess the on-going performance of all WAIC staff and contractors. - Report impact, partnerships, financial progress to targets on a regular basis and set targets for activity and associated revenue annually and quarterly. - Provide employers in Alberta and across Canada with fee-based services and resources that will create more accessible workplaces and facilitate the integration of disabled populations into workplaces across Canada. - Respond to RFQs and champion development of new research initiatives for disability accessibility and inclusion programming, research, evaluation, and educational methodologies, professional development, and/or training with wide dissemination of results. - Establish and support original and applied research projects in workplace disability accessibility and inclusion. - Establish partnerships with communities and organizations that support the ongoing work at the WAIC.   WHAT YOU BRING - Related MA degree (in Social Sciences, Accessibility studies, Gender Studies, Adult Education, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu). - Considerable related experience in leadership roles, and experience in entrepreneurship, business development, consulting, training, and research is preferred. Being a recognized community leader in accessibility. - Considerable related experience of instruction and/or facilitating accessibility training in the public and private sector. - Additional professional development in EDI, Accessibility, and associated areas. - Additional professional development in leadership training. - Understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices - Extensive knowledge of systemic inequities, EDI theory and practice and Human Rights legislation. - MBA or PMP designation would be an asset. - An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Our clinical sites include both acute and continuing care.   Instructors help our learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude to be successful and safe practitioners within their scope of practice. You will need to possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and have a passion for providing instruction and feedback that allows our students to apply skills in a safe and patient-centered way.   This role works full time with students in campus labs, and clinical practicum placements. The hours of work are full time and can vary. Lab shifts run weekdays and weekends, during days and evenings. Clinicals are usually Monday to Friday for four and eight-week increments. They consist of alternating 1 week eight-hour day shifts and 1 week eight-hour evening shifts with weekends off. TUTOR & ACADEMIC COACH, ENGLISH AND WRITING STUDENT SERVICES, COLLEGE LIFE   NorQuesters are difference makers, and we’re searching for someone who can apply learning theory, universal design principles, and foundational knowledge from the Alberta K-12 curriculum to support learner success. Working one-on-one with foundational and post-secondary learners, including those with experience of disability and those who have English as an additional language, Tutor-Coaches support the academic progress of learners by compassionately meeting them where they are at and collaborating with Instructional Faculty and the broader Student Services team to ensure wrap-around academic support.   The Tutor & Academic Coach (English and Writing) position provides in-person and online learning support to students in a variety of NorQuest courses and programs, inclusive of high school English, language learning programs (ESL and LINC), as well as post-secondary courses in the humanities and social sciences, such as Business Communications, and first-year university courses such as Technical Writing and Introduction to Composition. Tutor-Coaches work with students via multiple delivery channels, including drop-in tutoring and academic coaching, coaching appointments through a Habits for Success program, and coaching appointments for students referred by Accessibility (Disability) Services. You will have the opportunity to learn new curriculum, experiment with varied approaches to supporting learners, as well as the opportunity to innovate, as we transform our services to meet the college’s strategic goals and work towards our commitment to Indigenization, decolonization and becoming an anti-racist organization.     HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE   Provide tutoring and academic coaching support to students - Assess learning needs and provide content tutoring and academic skill development coaching to learners. - Co-create and individualize learning strategies using a strengths-based approach. - Provide a safe, inclusive, and holistic learning experience for all students. Liaise with teaching faculty, Learner Centre staff, Accessibility Services, Indigenous Student Services, and other college areas to provide wrap-around academic support - Build strong, collaborative relationships with program areas within an assigned liaison portfolio. - Work with Learner Centre staff (Library, Computer Commons and Accessibility Services) to co-manage the Learner Centre space and make appropriate referrals to other service areas. Implement projects and initiatives that support students’ academic success - Contribute to, or lead, the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects and initiatives, such as support initiatives with program areas and Accessibility Services. Contribute to on-going quality improvement in educational practice and service excellence - Contribute to the evolution and innovation of educational best practices that support academic resilience and a positive learner experience. - Engage in development opportunities, both internally and externally, as part of performance development planning, including peer learning and case conferencing. Contribute to operational excellence - Lead, or participate in, various operational functions, such as promotions and scheduling. - Capture accurate usage metrics for the purposes of decision-making and reporting.   WHAT YOU BRING   - A degree in Education (Bachelor’s or Graduate level) and a Master’s Degree (or working towards completion of a Master’s degree) are required.
