SENIOR SYSTEMS ANALYST

This position collaborates closely with college stakeholders and colleagues in Education and Information Technology to design and implement software solutions that are aligned with the strategic plans of the department. This position ensures that the solutions developed have few defects and are designed with user experience being a major design consideration. The Senior Systems Analyst also plays a major role in supporting the College’s database servers and databases.
Recommend and design structures and tools for systems which meet business needs.
Translate logical designs into physical designs, and produce detailed design documentation.
Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.
Design, code, test, correct and document complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
Develop visual user experiences across digital assets, while working with project teams to present propositions and strategies.
Rapidly translate digital concepts into hi-fidelity visual outputs and interactive prototypes.
Captures multi-disciplinary requirements, and translates those requirements into user experiences, prototypes and final assets.
Uses user experience design methods such as surveys, interviews, and research as part of the system design strategy.
Use database management system software and tools, and knowledge of logical database schemata, to investigate problems and collect performance statistics and create reports. Carries out routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of database and related products.
Provides advice on the transformation of data/information from one format/medium to another, where appropriate.
Applies ethical and robust techniques in the transformation of data from one format/medium to another, in line with organizational policies and procedures and being sensitive to risks around the use of information.
Schedule and monitor implementation of new systems and changes to existing systems, and ensures effective communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
Diagnoses service delivery problems and takes action to maintain or improve service levels.
Manages and resolves incidents and problems according to agreed procedures and service level agreements.
Analyzes causes of incidents, and communicates approaches to minimize probability of recurrence, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
University degree in related discipline, preferably in Computing Science is required.
Equivalencies may be considered.
ITIL certification would be considered an asset
MCSD certifications would be considered an asset
SQL Server certifications would be considered an assetAbility to solve complex problems and to work independently through ambiguity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 5 years of experience with the design, development and maintenance of enterprise level databases (MS SQL).
Demonstrated ability to articulate and translate technical language for non-technical customers both orally and in writing.
Analysis and data analysis and interpretation skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively engage and influence others.
Problem solving and creativity.
Demonstrated ability to confirm/understand business needs and translate those needs into systems designs.
Preference to candidates with experience in educational or public sector settings
SALARY: $75,044 - $93,777 per annum. Commensurate with education and experience.
