    Be a part of NorQuest College’s Hospitality Programs! Be part of the exciting new programs and initiatives in our brand new, state-of-the-art Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) Hospitality Institute and Lab.

     

    The institute is a hands-on training centre where learners from across the province can develop leading-edge skills in kitchen preparation, food preparation, and basic culinary skills to enter the culinary workforce in entry- or mid-level positions.

     

    Our students come to us with the goal of improving the quality of life for themselves as well as for those around them. Are you looking for an opportunity to help them achieve that goal? If so, consider joining the NorQuest College’s Hospitality Institute instructional team as a Culinary Instructor.

    As an integral part of the Hospitality Institute, you will facilitate and evaluate student learning in classroom and gaining practical skills to prepare them for employment in the food industry.

    In combination with culinary experience, the successful candidate will have an attitude and disposition that easily allows for quick integration into a highly communicative, results oriented and closely knit team.  

    All positions within the Hospitality Institute are contract positions and are scheduled on a per-project basis. Instructors must have flexible availability and be willing and able to travel within Canada.

     

    CULINARY INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years’ experience as a professional in the food industry.
    • Have a strong culinary background with real-life experience working in a restaurant, or other food service establishment.
    • Confidence in teaching topics such as: kitchen organization and time management, basic food prep, hot and cold food preparation and techniques, baking, decoration and garnishing, and food preservation, among others.
    • Passion for sharing industry knowledge and expertise.
    • Experience facilitating industry related training, coaching and/or mentoring is  an asset.
    • Can work independently while being a part of an instructional team.
    • Must have exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and be able to take initiative and adhere to deadlines.
    • Flexible availability, with willingness to teach weekday, evening, and weekend classes as required
    • Access to a vehicle and class 5 license is required.
    • Be able to provide exceptional references from within the culinary industry.
    • Post-secondary education is an asset.

     Compensation :

    • These are contract positions scheduled on a per-project basis based on availability and expertise.
