    The Business Development Officer with a focus on the Healthcare Sector Industry is responsible for contributing to the growth of revenue and profitability derived from corporate contracts for organizations and communities, and training. The training is delivered to individual healthcare professionals. In addition to training, the Business Development officer will look for opportunities to create new business ventures and commercialize products and concepts. Our services and solutions will be delivered in Edmonton, throughout Alberta, and across Western and Northern Canada. You are an innovative driven sales professional who understands the importance of building and maintaining meaningful relationships that will compliment and build on NorQuest’s well established reputation in healthcare training.


    To be successful in this position requires the ability to determine market and customer needs, and provide solutions that will increase the skill of the people and organizations in NorQuest’s market. You will work with both college faculty and contracted training providers to identify costs, and negotiate fees to create profitable, relevant and accessible products for current and prospective customers. You will use marketing and sales skills to develop new customers and markets for NorQuest’s training and services. The candidate must be willing to travel to meet clients and be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.




    New Business Development


    • Work with internal and external partners to deliver corporate training and non-credit personal and professional development courses.
    • Develop proposals that meet or exceed customer needs and objectives
    • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.


    Client Retention


    • Present new products and services to grow existing training relationships.
    • Work with technical and other internal staff and colleagues to meet customer needs.
    • Arrange and participate in client debriefs.


    Business Development Planning


    • Use knowledge of NorQuest’s market and competitors, identify and develop NorQuest’s unique selling proposition and differentiators
    • Attend industry functions, events, and conferences and provide feedback and information on market trends.


    Management and Research


    • Record progress on training initiatives through strong attention to detail.
    • Track and record activity with accounts
    • Develop a thorough understanding of NorQuest’s people and capabilities.
    • Forecast sales and prospecting activity targets and work toward this closing agreements to meet revenue and profitability targets. 



    • Undergraduate Degree in relevant field (e.g. social sciences, sciences, business).
    • 5 to 7 years of sales and new product/market development experience.
    • Must be available for some evening and weekend work.
    • Demonstrated experience in an entrepreneurial environment.
    • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills.
    • Ability to determine priorities, be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
    • Proficient in a variety of Microsoft Office programs

    SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. This position also includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan.
