    Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, the Team Lead of Accounts Payable will mentor and lead the staff in Accounts Payable to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of transactions.  It is the responsibility of the Accounts Payable Lead to follow existing policy and procedures and ensure appropriate internal controls are met.  In addition, this role will participate in updating and developing policies and procedures to better meet the operational needs of the College.



    • Monitor existing controls; analyze, develop, implement and monitor new controls where there are gaps from industry best practice
    • Interact with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong client service relations
    • Provide support for the processing and recording of College General Ledger functions maintaining confidentiality of secure information
    • Perform online banking activities required to support the Payables function
    • Provide on-going developmental support for financial services software; act as primary resource for maintenance of fixed registers, attributes and relations
    • Participate in the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures related to Accounts Payable transactions
    • Streamline system and business processes to increase the effectiveness of staff resources while maintaining strong internal controls
    • Supervise, review and assess the performance of Accounts Payable staff; provide significant input into the hiring and evaluation of Accounts Payable staff
    • This position needs to be a strong leader of staff and needs to work well with other teams in IPFS (i.e. AR, Payroll, Contracts, Procurement, IPBM and Reporting).



    • Post-secondary diploma in a related accounting discipline is required.
    • Has obtained an Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance or is actively working towards a Canadian Professional Accounting designation. 
    • 3-5 years minimum experience in accounts payable/disbursement control.7
    • Supervisory experience within a unionized environment is a definite asset.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong computer skills
    • Advocate of a strong internal control environment
    • Experience with PeopleSoft an asset
    • Experience in post-secondary education sector is an asset 


    SALARY:   $59,380 - $77,106 per annum; commensurate with education and experience.  This position also includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan.
