CASUAL INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT, EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE
FACULTY OF HEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIES
Our Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) program is expanding! Our program has small class sizes and a large hands-on component in a practical setting. The program is designed to prepare child care staff to practice in community programs including child care centers, family day homes, preschool programs, recreation programs and school age care programs. This is casual position hours of work will vary depending on the needs of the college.
Assist instructors in supporting the educational delivery to both individual students and groups of students.
Provide tutorial and/or remedial support to students (ex. Basic troubleshooting for educational software, study skills, vocabulary development, curriculum, time management, written expression, etc.).
Under the supervision of the Associate Chair, ensure the maintenance of the lab and lab materials.
Support students in the lab.
Cooperate with the Chair and colleagues in carrying out the objectives of the department; attend meetings regarding program needs, student needs and exemplify a willingness to orient new staff to the program.
Process last-minute classroom and lab materials for students.
Maintain accurate records for support to students including those for one-to one and group sessions (ex. session plans, contact sheets, attendance, etc.).
Work as a member of a team.
Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care.
A solid understanding of and appreciation for the early learning and child care profession.
Experience working with young children in child care settings.
Experience with computer and learner management systems (ie. Moodle, adobe connect, peoplesoft student) and computer programs (ie word, outlook, powerpoint)
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Successful candidates for the Early Learning Instructional Assistant position are required to provide the following:
A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last ninety days

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. This position also includes paid vacation and immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plans.
