CASUAL INSTRUCTOR, EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE
FACULTY OF HEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIES
Our Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) program is expanding! Our program has small class sizes and a large hands-on component in a practical setting. The program is designed to prepare child care staff to practice in community programs including child care centers, family day homes, preschool programs, recreation programs and school age care programs. We are in search of Instructors for casual positions.
Delivers high quality instruction which facilitates highest possible learning gain among adult students.
Prepares learning materials according to college and program guidelines suitable for adult students, ensures that plans and developed materials adhere to basic standards, and prepares supplemental materials as needed.
Evaluate effectiveness and appropriateness of lesson delivery, assignments and tests.
Provides formative and summative evaluation and feedback to students in a timely fashion which supports learning gain. Assesses students for placement, completes formed assessments as required and participates in case conference
Work with students to improve practical skills.
Prepare and facilitate laboratory activities.
Deliver lab and theory courses and maintain student records.
Work as a member of a team, including liaising with casual instructors.
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Masters preferred.
A solid understanding of and appreciation for the early learning and child care profession.
At least 5 years of experience working with young children in child care settings with increasing responsibility is required.
Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary environment and course work in adult education, with evidence of student-centered teaching excellence, is preferred.
Experience with learner management systems (ie. Moodle, adobe connect, peoplesoft student) and computer programs (ie word, outlook, powerpoint)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Successful candidates for the Early Learning Instructor position are required to provide the following:
A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within the last ninety days
We are currently seeking to fill two permanent full time positions, one term full-time position and casual positions starting in August 2018.
Job offers will be pending final budget approval.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
