    Reporting to the Manager of Wellness, the Psychiatric Nurse’s primary function is to identify and respond to medical and mental health emergencies, provide medical and mental health counselling, information, and support, along with community referrals for students. This will include development and delivery of student health and mental health awareness programs, monitoring of immunizations, providing emergency/routine care, community referrals, N95 Mask Fit Testing and contribute and lead area projects.  Additional duties may be assigned as required. This role will promote and assist students with restoring and maintaining health and well-being.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing is required. A nursing diploma with a specialized certification in psychiatric nursing with a considerable amount of experience may be considered. Equivalences may be considered.
    • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a community setting or public mental health nursing setting is required.
    • Ability to provide education to students and staff regarding health and mental health related topics
    • Experience developing and delivering health and mental health education/awareness programs
    • Experience responding, assessing and managing a mental health crisis
    • Experience reviewing immunization records would be an asset
    • Experience conducting N95 mask fit testing would be an asset
    • Experience working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team
    • Experience establishing/maintaining a network of contacts and community resources
    • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both verbal and written formats
    • Must be independent, organized, and detail oriented
    • Communicates with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and courtesy


    SALARY: $59,380 - $77,106 per annum; Commensurate with education and experience. Immediate enrollment in Benefits and the Public Service Pension Plan and offers generous vacation entitlement with structured day-time hours. We are hiring for 1 full time position and a 1-year cover off position from this competition.
