    We have an exciting brand new opportunity to develop a curriculum from the ground up for the Dental Office Assistant (DOA) Program and then teach the curriculum to students as an Instructor at the College!

    This 12-week Dental Office Assistant (DOA) program will prepare graduates to work in dental practice settings such as denture clinics, orthodontist and specialist offices, dental labs, and other dental-related businesses and healthcare industries. Students will learn clerical and administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, billing, filing, customer service and using dental software. This program will provide students with the basic knowledge of dental terminology and applications, management skills, and work experience needed to be successful their role.

    Reporting to the Program Chair of Health Admin and Technology, the successful candidate will play a key role in the Dental Office Assistant Programs effort to support best practices in quality curriculum design and development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and the Curriculum Associate Chair until to create interactive curriculum materials that incorporate teaching and learning theories, universal instructional design principles for accessibility, and the eCampus Alberta Quality Standards. In addition, will then take on the Instructor role to teach students the newly designed program!



    Curriculum Development:

    • Apply curriculum development knowledge and instructional design theory to develop interactive hybrid, and online curricula
    • Identify and communicate best practices for applying teaching and learning theories and instructional technologies to curriculum design
    • Apply universal instructional design principles to ensure curriculum documents are accessible to all learners
    • Identify and implement best practices in curriculum and instructional design and development, and bring new approaches to NorQuest
    • Coordinate with NorQuest Colleges’ Instructional Designer to ensure consistency with college standards and development processes


    • Facilitate student learning in class
    • Assess, monitor and evaluate student performance and progress.
    • Work with students to improve practical skills.
    • Prepares learning materials according to college and program guidelines suitable for adult students, ensures that plans and developed materials adhere to basic standards, and prepares supplemental materials as needed.
    • Evaluate effectiveness and appropriateness of lesson delivery, assignments and tests.
    • Provides formative and summative evaluation and feedback to students in a timely fashion which supports learning gain.


    • Related degree with specialization in instructional design and/or curriculum development
    • Experience with dental practices and dental terminology
    • Experience in designing curriculum in a post-secondary environment is required
    • Minimum of three years teaching experience in a post-secondary institution is required
    • Experience developing courses and/or teaching within a Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle)
    • Thorough understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices
    • Successful project management experience is an asset
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, and set and meet deadlines
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Diplomatic and proactive problem-solving skills

    SALARY:  Commensurate with education and experience. This term position offers a competitive base salary and generous vacation entitlement, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including immediate enrolment in our pension plan.
