    OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - CURRICULUM (COURSE) DEVELOPER

    INTERDISCIPLINARY THERAPY ASSISTANT DIPLOMA PROGRAM
    HEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIES

     

    The Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant Diploma program at NorQuest College is inviting applications for curriculum development contractors.

     

    NorQuest College’s Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant (ITA) Diploma will be offered for the first time starting September 2019, and has evolved from the previously offered Physical Therapy Assistant program as it strives to better prepare students to provide outstanding care. This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative team in taking therapy assistant education to the next level of excellence.

     

    The curriculum developer would be developing the discipline-specific course: Occupational Therapy Foundations of Mental Health and Cognition for Assistants. They would also consult and support the development and alignment of the overall program and various interdisciplinary courses such as Communication and Collaboration in Health-Care, Professional Practice for Therapy Assistants, and Integrated Care across the Lifespan.

     

    Note: If you are interested in developing curriculum for the ITA program, you may also be interested in joining our instructional team. We are also seeking instructors to teach in the program starting December 2019. Please review the Occupational Therapist – Instructor posting for further details.

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    This position you will develop curriculum by:

    • Meeting periodically with the program’s Associate Chair and other developers (in person and/or over the phone);
    • Collaborating to outline course units and learning outcomes;
    • Selecting textbook(s) and other key resources;
    • Creating custom readings, assignments, and exams;
    • Outlining interactive lab activities, and online activities;
    • Reviewing the course and content to meet quality standards.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Occupational Therapist registered with Alberta College of Occupational Therapists
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Ability to work independently, and collaboratively on a team
    • Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or developing curriculum 
    • Computer skills and online teaching experience preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy, with preference to experience in a strong interdisciplinary clinical setting

     

    SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. 

     

    START DATE: ASAP

     

    POSITION: 300-1000 hours of workm depending on course(s) assigned for development, some in personal meetings with most work completed from home, start date ASAP.
