    SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - INSTRUCTOR
    INTERDISCIPLINARY THERAPY ASSISTANT DIPLOMA PROGRAM

    HEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIES

     

     

    The Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant Diploma program at NorQuest College is inviting applications for the position of instructor. This position can accommodate a 0.6 to 1.0 FTE depending on the candidate’s preference.

     

    NorQuest College’s Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant (ITA) Diploma will be offered for the first time starting September 2019, and has evolved from the previously offered Physical Therapy Assistant program as it strives to better prepare students to provide outstanding care. This is an exciting opportunity to help students achieve their goals, and to join our innovative team in taking therapy assistant education to the next level of excellence. As an integral part of our team, you will facilitate and evaluate student learning in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings.

     

    The instructor would be teaching discipline specific courses such as Introduction to Speech and Communication Disorders, and Introduction to Language and Swallowing Disorders, as well as other general or interdisciplinary courses. This instructor may also participate in practicum coordination, and the support of preceptors and students during placement.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position may support student success by:

    • Providing online and face-to-face instruction and delivering hands-on lab workshops; 
    • Supporting clinical placement; monitoring academic performance, identifying and addressing academic issues;
    • Providing subject matter expertise and developing curriculum (course content, learning activities, assessments)

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Speech language pathologist registered with Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists
    • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills 
    • Ability to work independently, and collaboratively on a team
    • Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or developing curriculum 
    • Computer skills and online teaching experience preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Speech language pathology, with preference to experience in a strong interdisciplinary clinical setting

     

    IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:

    Successful candidates for the Instructor position are required to provide the following:

    • A Police Information Check within the last ninety days
    • A Vulnerable Sectors Check within the last ninety days
    • Up to date immunization records

     

    SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. 

     

    START DATE: December 1, 2019

     

    POSITION: 0.6-1.0 FTE, permanent instructor, the hours of work are mostly daytime, Monday to Friday, start date December 1, 2019
