Reporting to the Team Lead, Student Financial Aid, the Student Navigator will assist applicants in achieving their educational and career goals through providing support and guidance. The Navigator will provide personal care and attention to students, answering questions and offering information and options to help them make informed decisions about their academic future and career aspirations.

 

Student Services is the support arm of the college, providing services that promote student success. The primary goal of the Navigator team is to create a centralized academic advisory group that will continue throughout the student lifecycle, increasing student retention and completion rates.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Student Support 

  • Support current NorQuest applicants and students by providing exemplary customer service through the admission process
  • Assist students in identifying and overcoming barriers to success, guiding them to support services where necessary
  • Assist with the development of individual learner plans, guiding and supporting students in career decision making and educational program planning with consideration to their occupational goals, academic levels and personal circumstances
     

Stakeholder Liaising (Internal and External)

  • Represent the college at various events such as conferences and career fairs
  • Liaise with external agencies and service providers (Edmonton Housing, Employability’s, etc) to access resource information for learners
  • Provide input and support for relevant NorQuest College policies, procedures and standard practices that will increase student satisfaction and completion rates
  • Collaborate with the Registrar to ensure that enrolment targets are met

Training and Student Life Operations 

  • Support the Team Lead in training staff by guiding through the onboarding process and developing training plans
  • Contribute to the strategic goals of NorQuest College and Student Life by initiating and participating in various projects and activities
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A post-secondary diploma in a related field is required; a university degree in a related field is considered a strong asset.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in student advising/student centered or a related career in post-secondary education is required
     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
  • A positive and professional attitude and the ability to work independently and as a team member is essential
  • Ability to remain calm in demanding situations and appropriately deal with stress resulting from situations
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft would be an asset

 

SALARY:   $52,052 - $67,626 per annum commensurate with education and experience.  This full time term position until June 30, 2018. This position includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan.

This position reports to the Vice President Teaching and Learning and is responsible for providing business administration, communications management, and project management services to the Vice President’s office.  The position will research and provide background information and advice on organizational matters and issues related to the portfolio.  The Senior Executive Associate will also initiate written and verbal communications and reports by researching, compiling information, preparing initial drafts and ensuring deadlines are met within a timely fashion. The Senior Executive Associate will provide a range of services in office management, budget administration, and issues management related to the College, committee support, project management, analysis, retreat preparation, and stakeholder liaising. 

 

The position will play a key role in building and sustaining internal relationships as this position requires frequent and collaborative interaction with senior management leaders within all Divisions of the college.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinates, implements and improves business practices and procedures within the Office of the Vice President. Establishes and implements processes, tools and supporting documentation for all items requiring VP approval. 
  • Initiates written communications and reports to external and internal contacts.
  • Effectively administer, coordinate and manage pertinent information, issues or problems. 
  • Reviews and analyses reports, studies and position papers and prepares briefing reports and recommendations for the Vice President.
  • Keeps the Vice President informed of areas of concern or emerging trends and briefs him or her on any issues, concerns, matters and meetings.
  • Creates, manages, monitors and reconciles the budget for the Office of the Vice President and ensures accurate processing of expenditures including preparation and payment of expense claims.
  • Coordinates, implements and manages special projects arising within the Office of the Vice President.

  • Screens correspondence and inquires and independently responds or re-routes as appropriate.
    Liaises with the President’s office to resolve issues of mutual concern.
  • May be required to attend committee meetings and inform the VP and relevant parties of decisions and actions taken by the committees and follows up where further action is required.
  • Coordinates portfolio information for the annual report, college business plan, contribution agreements, and board meetings.
  • Coordinates reports/information regarding the divisional operational plans within the portfolio.
  • Manages information and business follow up for all new projects for the VP.   
  • Coordinates/manages other operational items as required.
     

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A university degree in a related discipline is required.  Equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered in lieu.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a business administrator and senior executive assistant including, business planning, project management, general administration preferably in a post-secondary educational setting .
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and networking skills, acting with a high level of professionalism and business acumen.
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and exercise judgment in changing and politically sensitive situations.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, financial management, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Reporting to the Manager of Wellness and Accessibility, the Manager, Wellness is responsible for managing operations and progressive strategic development in the Centre for Growth and Harmony. This position will ensure that counselling, social work and nursing operations work effectively to deliver excellent services to students, faculty, business partners, and the community. This position will focus on ethical practice, operational process improvement, policy and procedure development and implementation, file management, and performance management. The Manager, Wellness, is responsible for services that have a direct impact on student success and retention for students across all program areas at NorQuest College.

 

This position provides supervision and leadership for a number of professionals including: Registered Psychologist (Faculty member), 2 Clinical Social Workers, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Wellness Coach. 

 

The Manager, Wellness, is responsible for ensuring that all functional areas within the unit are aligned with best practices, standards of practice, ethical guidelines, and relevant legislation. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that the unit is aligned with department, division and college goals, and that all functional areas within the Wellness team are communicating and collaborating as a holistic multidisciplinary team to facilitate timely, appropriate support to students who access these services. This is achieved through providing leadership in the form of planning, organizing, and coordinating with direct reports and stakeholders for short-term goals, as well as analyzing trends and providing direction and guidance for long-term goals and changes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:      

  • Master’s Degree in a health, social work, or mental health-related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience at a supervisory level, equivalencies will be considered
  • Experience in a post-secondary institution preferred
     

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Excellent knowledge of the core services of the unit

Health Care Aide Regional Instructional Assistant (IA) –Drayton Valley

This are casual opportunity begins in September 2017 and run until August 2018 in the Drayton Valley region. The successful candidates will be required to work approximately 100 total hours during weekday afternoons for lab instruction, and full days Monday to Friday for 200 hours of clinical practicum.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

  •  Set up for lab experiences according to the timetable
  • Provide instructional assistance in the lab setting, by demonstrating and assisting students to learn clinical skills, knowledge, and attitude
  • Assist with lab assessments and record keeping
  • Assist students in clinical practicum under the supervision of the instructor
  • Assist in remediation activities for learners
  • Arrange for printing and duplicating of educational materials
  • Proctor exams
  • Order and organize lab supplies
  • Keep instructional team apprised of student progress, lab equipment status, lab supplies, and lab materials
  • Mentoring students while on practicum to increase student success is key component of this position
  • Undertake projects and/or related duties as required

  •  Must be currently registered with CLPNA

Reporting to the Manager, NorQuest International, the International Student Recruiter provides support and carries out strategic directions established by the Manager of International for international student recruitment, business development, and client and institutional relationship management. The goal of this position is to increase enrollments, seek out business development opportunities and increase revenue to the College. The role may require extensive and lengthy international travel. With a keen understanding of the market, the incumbent develops recruiting strategies to maximize market reach and impact. At the end of each cycle, the incumbent assesses results and identifies opportunities for improvement.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

International Recruitment & Enrolment

 

  • Provide strategic knowledge, guidance, and expertise on the development of the College's international recruitment and enrolment strategies; including determining levels of recruitment activities and marketing/promotions required to meet targets, and establishing/evaluating target markets for recruitment activities
  • Developing and executing annual recruitment plans that will work towards meeting strategic goals; including international travel/attendance at education fairs/events, promotional/recruitment activities at targeted high school and postsecondary institutions abroad, developing and delivering presentations about NorQuest College and the programs to prospects and influencers abroad, and meeting and providing information/training to international agents who are recruiting on behalf of the College.

  • Working closely with the Brand & Marketing department and supporting the development of promotional materials specific to international recruitment activities; including but not limited to publications, website and social media information, and targeted marketing activities.

 

Relationship Management/Business Development

 

  • Identify opportunities for new strategic markets and partnerships to aid in the development of international recruitment initiatives & activities
  • Development of international agent contracts; including developing country/region specific agent requirements and strategies, determining agent suitability, providing information and training to agent staff, and implementing policies/procedures for evaluating agent effectiveness

  • Development relationships with Canadian Trade Networks, Canadian Embassy staff, and other organizations to create partnerships to ensure that NorQuest College is well represented in key target markets

  • Develop strategies designed to foster institutional collaborations, partnerships, and linkages to align with the international recruitment, and business development goals of the unit

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A related post-secondary diploma in a related field is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible related strategic experience, including setting goals and objectives, coordination, and planning in an international student recruitment role in post-secondary
  • online marketing and/or business development experience
  • superior record of generating new business and building/maintaining client relationships in existing and new market sectors is required
  • demonstrated experience in international marketing communications and strategy
  • hands-on experience moving programs from inception to completion, and knowledgeable in every phase of work from marketing research to strategy development, to objective setting, to budget setting, monitoring and maintenance

The Office of Student Judicial Affairs (OSJA) is committed to upholding NorQuest College’s standards of personal conduct and academic integrity. This office provides assistance and advice to students, staff, and faculty involved in dispute resolution; ensures procedural fairness and compliance in the college’s handling of complaints; and partners with other student services and program areas to identify and mitigate factors that contribute to misconduct reports.

The role of the Student Conduct Officer is to investigate reports of non-academic misconduct, and serve as the initial contact person within the Office of Student Judicial Affairs. Reporting to the Manager, Academic Support Centre, and supervised by the Student Judicial Affairs Senior Officer, the Student Conduct Officer conducts fair and prompt investigations of allegations of non-academic misconduct; this includes pursuing informal resolutions to support student development when possible, and recommending sanctions in accordance with the college’s policies and procedures when necessary. The Student Conduct Officer is also responsible for fielding general inquiries from students, staff, and faculty seeking information from the OSJA, and coordinating the intake of new cases.

The successful candidate for this position will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, will display intercultural awareness in interactions with students and staff, and will be trauma-informed in their approach to investigations. This individual will use sound judgement with the goal of ensuring that all members of the NorQuest community benefit equally from the maintenance of a positive learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate complaints of non-academic misconduct as per the Student Judicial Affairs Policy and Procedures
  • Recommend sanctions to Student Judicial Affairs Senior Officer
  • Seek informal and alternative dispute resolution pathways when suitable
  • Liaise with relevant parties as necessary, including students, staff, faculty, program chairs, counsellors, the Office of the Registrar, on-campus security, and local law enforcement
  • Be interculturally-aware and trauma-informed when interacting with members of the college community
  • Develop internal investigative processes based on best practices in post-secondary sector
  • Handle intake and respond to general inquiries with respect to Student Judicial Affairs Procedures (Academic Misconduct, Non-Academic Misconduct, Student Complaints, and Academic Grade Appeals); escalate files to Student Judicial Affairs Senior Officer when appropriate
  • Manage the administration of Student Judicial Affairs caseload, record outcomes of complaints, and oversee the fulfillment of any conditions
  • Represent the OSJA at student disciplinary hearings as required
  • Collect and report data to support the development of new processes and initiatives
  • Assist the Student Judicial Affairs Senior Officer with other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
  • 1 -3 years of experience working with judicial or quasi-judicial processes, ideally in a post-secondary setting
  • Working knowledge of best practices in student judicial affairs, campus safety, student services, trauma informed practice, and/or alternative dispute resolution (i.e., mediation, restorative justice)
  • Experience conducting investigations and providing rationale to support findings
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others regardless of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, cultural identity, ethnicity, disability, political or religious affiliation, or economic status.

SALARY:  $65,318 per annum - $84,817 per annum; plus immediate participation in our pension and benefits program.

At this time we are looking for a part time evening facilitator to teach LINC classes in Lloydminster, AB. Classes currently run four evenings a week with three hours per evening.

HEALTH CARE AIDE REGIONAL SITES

These are casual opportunities which will begin in September 2017 and run until August 2018 in the MAYERTHORPE, BARRHEAD and DRAYTON VALLEY Regions. The successful candidates will be required to work approximately 300 total hours during weekday afternoons for theory and lab instruction, and full days Monday to Friday for 200 hours of clinical practicum.

We are looking for an individual at our Whitecourt Campus, with a strong Math/Science background, who is a team player with strong communication skills, to assist instructors with program delivery in distance education using BlackBoard and Video Conferencing. These programs are designed to allow adult students to take High School credit courses at a distance.  You will help organize program materials, tutor students as necessary, track student progress and assist in maintaining computer hardware and software.  Some administrative duties may be required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Site administrator for online classes. 
  • Maintain attendance records for students in classes where the instructor is not on site.
  • Ensure students have the required course materials, textbooks, assignments.
  • Ensure students completed assignments are faxed back to instructors.
  • Ensure students receive marked assignments and test back.
  • Monitor exams for online students in those classes where the instructor is off site.
  • Assist with registration process by being responsible for handing out and recording texts that students receive.  Also responsible for collecting texts when students are finished their courses.
  • Assist with classes when instructors require.
  • Tutor students in various courses where students need extra help.
  • Assist instructors where necessary, classroom, ordering materials, etc.
  • Participate in staff meetings. 
  • Provide occasional back up to front office reception duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is required; Math and Science or English/Humanities specialization is preferred.
  • Experience in an adult educational setting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient with computers.

Reporting to the Manager of Student Wellness & Accessibility, the Psychiatric Nurse’s primary function is to identify and respond to medical and mental health emergencies, provide medical and mental health counselling, information, and support and community referrals for students. This will include development and delivery of student health education programs, monitoring of immunizations, providing emergency/ routine care, community referrals and, N95 Mask Fit Testing.  This role will promote and assist students with restoring and maintaining health and well-being and will have an active role in the Workplace Health Safety and Wellness Committee.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing is required. A nursing diploma with a specialized certification in psychiatric nursing with a considerable amount of experience may be considered.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a community setting or public mental health nursing setting is required.
  • Recent experience responding to medical emergencies is required.
  • Ability to provide assist students with mental health related concerns
  • Ability to provide education to students and staff regarding health- related topics
  • Experience reviewing immunization records would be an asset
